This contract role offers an exciting opportunity to engage with the Pupil Appraisal Department, focusing on the critical process of determining eligibility for Special Education services. Based near the vibrant New Orleans area, this full-time position spans 35 hours per week, following the school’s academic calendar through late May.

Your contributions will extend far beyond traditional social work services. You will join an interdisciplinary team—including school psychologists and educational diagnosticians—to carry out student evaluations, re-evaluations, and testing, and to actively participate in Academic Behavior Intervention Team meetings. Monitoring interventions, collaborating on coordinated assessments, and serving 2-3 schools as an itinerant professional ensures each day is rewarding and meaningful.

Key Qualifications:

• Active Louisiana DOE Certification and valid professional license
• School-based social work experience preferred
• Experience with pupil appraisal, assessments, and special education processes
• Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Strong documentation and organizational skills
• Completion of district fingerprinting (background check) and drug screening as required

Primary Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations and re-evaluations to assess student eligibility for services
• Participate in SBLC/ABIT meetings and contribute clinical insights
• Coordinate and monitor intervention plans with faculty and families
• Work closely with fellow professionals across 2-3 school sites
• Maintain precise records and reports in alignment with district protocols
