Practical Solutions Counseling is seeking a dedicated and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) who is fluent in Spanish or Portuguese. This is a full-time position offering remote flexibility, allowing you to work from home while providing essential therapeutic services to children with developmental disabilities and intellectual challenges. Our focus is on delivering Intensive In-community therapy, which necessitates a commitment to improving the mental health and overall well-being of our young clients and their families.

Work Environment\n

This role will primarily operate in a remote setting, with occasional in-person sessions conducted at our outpatient office as necessary. As part of your responsibilities, you will engage in individual therapy sessions or group therapy sessions that may include home visits, empowering families with skills and tools to improve behavioral challenges. The flexibility to work during after-school hours, typically from 4 PM to 7 PM, is essential, with some weekend availability preferred.

Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct one-on-one in-home therapy sessions or group therapy sessions at our outpatient center, focusing on real-life scenarios that foster coping, anger management, and social skills.

• Implement strategies that reduce high-risk behaviors among youth, such as self-injurious behavior (SIB) or physical aggression, thereby promoting healthier coping mechanisms.
\n
• Facilitate family involvement by enhancing decision-making skills in caretakers to address in-home behavioral challenges effectively.
\n
• Collaborate consistently with the Child Family Treatment Team and engaging with multidisciplinary professionals to create a coordinated approach to support the youth and their families.
\n
• Maintain accurate and timely records by submitting required documentation such as intake forms, treatment plans, and progress notes according to established deadlines.
\n
• Participate in monthly team meetings, contributing insights and recommendations for improved services and outcomes.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The therapist will primarily work with children and adolescents ranging from ages 3 to 20 who present with developmental disabilities, intellectual challenges, and associated behavioral issues. Your expertise will greatly benefit this diverse population, addressing their unique needs through tailored therapeutic interventions that foster personal and relational growth.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, or a closely related field is required.

• An active and unrestricted LMFT license is mandatory for this position.
\n
• A minimum availability of 5-10 hours per week during after-school hours is essential; weekend flexibility is advantageous.

• Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license and have access to a registered vehicle for travel to in-home sessions.

• Successful candidates must pass a criminal background check, inclusive of fingerprinting, as part of the hiring process.

Preferred Experience\n

• Experience in providing positive behavior support and interventions is highly desirable.

• Prior work with children and youth who have intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) will be considered an asset.

Compensation and Benefits\n
