Job Overview Patti Finnegan’s Pub and Grille is actively seeking a full-time kitchen supervisor. Patti Finnegan’s is part of the Steve Sharf clubhouse at the Oakland University Golf and Learning Center in Rochester, Michigan. This fast‑paced, high‑energy environment serves over 800 affiliate members, various departments of Oakland University, and the general public. An excellent supervisor must be able to follow instructions as well as give them, move around the kitchen deftly and be adept at multitasking. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is also important. We are looking for someone with a minimum of one to two years experience in kitchen supervision, in different styles—from traditional classics to grill sandwiches and homemade soups. The ideal candidate is hardworking, reliable, organized, creative, passionate about food and hospitality, and can lead and motivate the team. This position is full‑time with flexible scheduling including days, evenings, weekends, and some public holidays. You’ll perform routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations with ingredients, tools, and equipment to prepare menu items according to recipes. You’ll direct and coach team members in completing various tasks throughout the shift. The kitchen supervisor should fully understand and be able to explain all local health and safety rules in the kitchen and function effectively in a fast‑paced, busy environment as part of a team. Responsibilities Lead the team in the absence of the Executive Chef Assist with the completion of daily & weekly prep and cleaning lists Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking Prepare ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc. Undertake basic cooking duties such as searing, grilling, blanching, reducing sauces, and more Prepare simple dishes such as cold and hot sandwiches, salads, burgers, seafood, etc. Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, and taking out trash Ensure all food and other items are stored properly per health department regulations Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines Perform other kitchen duties as assigned by Chef, Sous Chef or other management Skills Proven experience as a Grill and/or Sauté cook Experience in using cutting tools and cookware Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.) Ability to follow all sanitation procedures Ability to work in a team Very good communication skills Proven experience as a line cook and/or kitchen supervisor—willingness to train the right person Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen Manual dexterity to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils Team player with good communication skills Patient with the ability to stay positive under pressure Very good physical condition and endurance Pay Frequency Bi weekly Job Types Seasonal Full-time Seasonal Part-time Pay $20.00 - $25.00 per hour Benefits Employee discount Flexible schedule Shifts Day shift Night shift Weekly Day Range Mondays through Sundays Mondays we host private catered golf outings, no restaurant operations Tuesday through Sunday, restaurant is open 11am - 9pm Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week Typical PM Shift End Time 10 PM, but varies based on events and time of year Typical AM Shift Start Time 9:00 AM, but varies based on events and time of year License/Certification ServSafe Food Manager Certificate (or willingness to take course) Restaurant Type Casual dining restaurant Golf Course Banquets, Events & Catering Education High school diploma or equivalent is desirable; training from a culinary school will be an asset.
