Position Overview Department: Family and Consumer Sciences Position Title: Lecturer Pool – Fashion Merchandising and Management The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences seeks qualified instructors to teach courses in the major, including management, marketing, buying, advertising, promotion, manufacturing, sourcing, distribution, retailing, and design. Familiarity or experience with contemporary and historical approaches to meeting economic, physiological, aesthetic, psychological, sociological, and cultural needs related to fashion products is favored. Responsibilities: Instruction, class preparation, grading, office hours, and other duties assigned by the department. Course assignments, dates, times, and modality are determined by the Department Chair in consultation with the College Dean. Appointments are typically one semester, may be renewed based on departmental needs, budget, and performance. Role is part‑time instructional faculty with conditional appointments linked to enrollment and funding. Rank and Salary Initial rank and salary are based on professional experience and educational background. Most new lecturers are hired at Lecturer A or B rank. Salaries are based on a full‑time rate (15 weighted teaching units) and paid in six installments per semester. Salary ranges (July 2024): Lecturer A: $5,507 – $6,677 Lecturer B: $6,221 – $13,224 Lecturer C: $6,825 – $14,523 Lecturer D: $8,593 – $15,211 Example calculation for a Lecturer A teaching 3 units: $5,507 × (3/15) = $1,101.40 per check × 6 checks = $6,608.40 per semester. Qualifications Required: Master’s degree in Fashion Merchandising and Management or related field. Preferred: Doctorate degree, teaching experience at the post‑secondary level.
