Key Responsibilities

As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will:

• Assist licensed Physical Therapists during patient evaluations and assessments, ensuring all interactions are conducted with utmost respect and empathy.
• Implement and modify treatment plans and therapeutic exercises under the direct supervision of the Physical Therapist, ensuring that patient-centered care remains a priority.
• Instruct and supervise patients on therapeutic exercises and activities, encouraging their participation with encouragement and motivation.
• Utilize diverse therapeutic modalities, including heat treatment, cold packs, and electrical stimulation techniques, to mitigate pain and enhance physical function while prioritizing patient comfort and safety.
• Educate patients and their families on the proper techniques for therapeutic exercises and activities that they can perform at home to further support their recovery.
• Carefully monitor patient progress, documenting treatment outcomes in compliance with clinical protocols.
• Effectively communicate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to discuss patient care strategies and ensure coordinated service delivery.
• Maintain meticulous, accurate, and up-to-date patient records, respecting confidentiality and adhering to legal standards.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role serves a varied patient demographic primarily comprising older adults, individuals recovering from orthopedic surgeries or injuries, and those with chronic conditions requiring rehabilitative care. You will assist patients in meeting their rehabilitation and functional goals, promoting both physical and emotional well-being through tailored intervention strategies.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must possess:

• An Associate's degree in Physical Therapy Assisting from an accredited institution.
• Current state licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• A strong foundational knowledge of physical therapy principles and practices.

Preferred Experience

While a minimum of one year of clinical experience in a relevant setting is required, those with 1-2 years of hands-on experience in home care or outpatient settings will find themselves at an advantage. Previous experience in patient-facing roles where compassion and interpersonal skills were paramount is highly regarded.
