Registered Nurse - Complex Medical Unit Spaulding

Job Summary Provide patient care according to the philosophy and standards of the Department of Nursing. Utilize appropriate clinical skills to integrate and implement the nursing process with the plan of care. Function as a clinical resource for the patient, consistently providing direction and support to ensure a focus on the team goals and patient driven outcomes. Function within role expectations, delegate duties to other caregivers as required and consistently provide appropriate supervision. Responsibilities Complete nursing assessment accurately and timely in accordance with practice standards. Develop and implement a plan of care that reflects the needs and goals of the patient. Provide, evaluate, and modify nursing care to achieve goals and objectives. Complete patient care documentation per established standards. Administer medications safely and according to professional standards of practice and nursing policies and procedures. Transcribe or acknowledge doctors orders as needed and carry them out as directed. Coordinate nursing care activities in collaboration with other care team members to facilitate achievement of patient goals. Assess patient education needs and provide education related to disease process, medication, and discharge preparation. Provide mentoring and teaching for healthcare team members as needed. Actively participate in team conferences and meetings to achieve stated goals. Complete additional department, organization, or network activities per established objectives. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (Baccalaureate preferred). Current license from the Massachusetts Board of Registration as a Registered Nurse (preferred). Effective verbal, electronic, and written communication skills. Proficiency in computers and Microsoft Office; ability to learn new software. Willingness to maintain a variable work schedule, including evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and travel. Strong interpersonal skills working with a diverse population. Ability to work independently, be self‑directed, and collaborate as a team member. Initiative to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing situations. Attention to detail. Physical Requirements Work environment includes exposure to extreme cold (non‑weather), high places, confined spaces, electrical shock, radiation exposure, blood‑borne pathogens, flammable gases, caustic chemicals, dust, grease, hazardous specimens, lab animals, infectious disease, cleaning agents, hot equipment, noisy equipment, and humid or wet conditions. Work may involve lifting up to 100 pounds, pushing or pulling objects up to 100 pounds, varying activity levels, use of fine motor skills, and vision requirements for close and distance tasks. Safety equipment may include eye protection, gowns, lenses, scrubs, face shields, boots, ear protection, hard hats, mask, coveralls, SCBA, and gloves.
