Schedule: Weekend Call (Friday 3:00 PM Monday 6:00 AM), approx. 1 weekend every 5 weeks
Start Date: January 8, 2027
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Practice Setting: Inpatient / Acute Care Hospital
Support Staff: Solo MD (no APP support)
EMR: Epic
Board Certification: Board Certified in Gastroenterology
License Requirement: Active Massachusetts State Medical License
Certifications: Active BLS & DEA required
Experience Required: Minimum 1 year of clinical experience; recent Epic charting experience

Position Overview:

An acute care hospital in Northampton, Massachusetts is seeking a Board Certified Gastroenterologist for weekend coverage on a 13-week locum tenens assignment. The role requires handling weekend call coverage (Friday afternoon through Monday morning) approximately once every five weeks. Primary responsibilities include weekend rounding on the GI service and covering GI consults/calls.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct Saturday and Sunday rounding on the GI inpatient service.
Provide call coverage for adult gastroenterology patients (Hospitalist handles 1st call).
Perform bread-and-butter GI procedures, including Upper and Lower Endoscopies and Colonoscopies (EUS and ERCP are preferred).
Utilize Epic EMR for clinical charting and documentation.
