Compliance Representative

Job Description and Duties Under the close supervision of the Administrator I (AD I), the incumbent performs at the journey level as a lead person and provides support to the Filing Enforcement Section. The incumbent provides quality review and assistance to staff at the Compliance Representative, Tax Technician and Tax Program Technician I levels and independently performs complex filing enforcement activities; provides technical support to staff to resolve complex technical and filing enforcement issues; analyzes and makes recommendations. The incumbent performs technical and administrative functions related to the Filing Enforcement program or other departmental programs. The incumbent participates as a team member with peers and others to identify work‑related issues, resolve program reporting problems, and represents the section on enterprise projects and teams consistent with the department’s mission and values. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable. # of Positions: Multiple Work Location: Sacramento County Telework: In Office Job Type: Permanent, Full Time Desirable Qualifications Performs quality review and analyzes work completed to ensure accuracy and consistency with guidelines, procedures, directives, and policies and provides feedback to the Administrator (AD) I. Working knowledge of the Integrated Non‑Compliance System (INC), Taxpayer Information System (TI), Taxpayer Folder (TPF), Case Management (CM), Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), Accounts Receivable Management System (ARCS), Personal Audit Work System (PAWS), Lexis Nexis, and comparable tax accounting software and systems. Reviews and approves account transactions in the INC, TI, TPF, CM, DMV, ARCS and PAWS systems, and comparable tax accounting software and systems. Ability to interpret and accurately explain complex provisions of the California Revenue and Taxation Code, the Internal‑Revenue Code, public service bulletins, and other operating procedures regarding personal income tax law, filing requirements, filing enforcement practices, collection activities, while maintaining taxpayer privacy and data confidentiality requirements. Knowledge and experience with Qfiniti, or a comparable phone‑call monitoring and evaluation system. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience working in a contact center (telephone, correspondence, and/or chat). Ability to lead, mentor, and train others with a result‑driven, positive attitude. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Ability to effectively deal with the public and establish and maintain positive working relationships.
