Client Accountant

Position Summary The Client Accountant performs daily property accounting duties for assigned properties, including preparing financial reports, entering journal entries, reviewing operating statements, and ensuring adherence to management agreements and SOC1 controls. The role utilizes real‑estate accounting software (e.g., MRI, Yardi) and works closely with property management to meet reporting deadlines and follow owner policies accurately. The Accountant does not manage personnel and is responsible for delivering a professional experience to tenants, owners, vendors, and team members. Essential Job Functions Review tenant billings and adjustments provided by the Property Manager. Submit and post Commercial Management batches and cash receipt batches. Maintain property cash balances and approve large accounts payable disbursements. Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and review the Rent Roll for changes. Adjust and reconcile aged delinquency reports, support schedules, and general ledger entries. Prepare and submit monthly financial reports to the accounting manager. Assist in CAM, real‑estate tax escalation reviews, and audit inquiries. Calculate owner distributions, monthly Management Fees, and Incentive Management Fees. Maintain and upload required documentation into OneSpace. Communicate with clients, auditors, tax preparers, and internal teams. File sales tax and close accounts payable and general ledger modules each month. Perform additional client accounting duties as assigned. Position Requirements Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (preferred). 2‑3 years of fee‑based property management accounting experience. Knowledge of cash and basic accrual accounting principles and GAAP. Experience with MRI or Yardi accounting software. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to work independently with general supervision. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Capacity to remain in a stationary position 50% or more of the time and to operate office productivity equipment. Must keep information and internal communications confidential.
