JOB TYPE Classification: Non Exempt JOB SUMMARY Schedules inpatient and outpatient surgery, tests, and procedures. Obtains insurance authorization and pre-certification for surgery and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Requires knowledge of medical terminology. Experience: 1 year of customer service experience, medical office experience, computer experience preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details. Licensure: N/A Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Ability to read, understand, interpret, and respond to different situations and able to communicate appropriately. Skill in establishing and maintaining an effective relationship with patients, staff, and the public. Ability to react calmly and effectively to emergency situations. Ability to learn or have knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols. Ability to perform in high volume, multi-task environment. Requires a clear, pleasant, understandable telephone voice. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: N/A The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Physical Demand Code: Medium to Heavy Physical Demand: The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.
