Senior Litigation Attorney

The Firm Makower Abbate Guerra Wegner Vollmer PLLC is Michigan's leading firm in condominium and homeowner association law. We represent community associations and their boards and managers across the state in governance, restriction enforcement, assessment collection, and litigation at every level. The Role We are seeking an experienced litigator to take first-chair responsibility for a high-volume docket of community association disputes. This is a senior position for an attorney who is already comfortable running their own cases: appearing regularly in district and circuit court, arguing dispositive motions, trying cases. Although our work is primarily at the trial level, we do handle occasional appeals to the Michigan Court of Appeals. You will work directly with association boards and property managers, and counsel clients through contentious matters. What You'll Do Manage a high-volume caseload of association litigation matters from intake through resolution Handle motion practice, discovery, evidentiary hearings, facilitation and mediation, arbitration, and bench and jury trials Litigate restriction enforcement, contract and construction disputes, governance and election challenges, and developer/declarant issues Respond to fair housing, civil rights, and administrative agency proceedings Advise boards and managers on governing document interpretation, operations, and risk What We're Looking For 8+ years of civil litigation experience; community association, condominium, or real property experience is a significant plus Demonstrated first-chair experience in Michigan district and circuit courts Proven ability to manage a large, deadline-driven docket independently and efficiently Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail The judgment to advocate effectively while remaining collaborative and responsive with clients and colleagues Compensation and Benefits Base salary starting at $135,000, commensurate with experience Structured performance and merit bonus program with potential of $20,000 or more annually Health insurance (medical, vision, dental) Life and short/long term disability insurance 401(k) including employer contribution Paid bar dues, CLE, and professional association memberships Defined path to partnership. #J-18808-Ljbffr
