Behavior specialists and ongoing professional development are available to classroom teachers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred Valid license from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Severe Disabilities, All Levels or Moderate Disabilities Pre‑K‑8 SEI Endorsement Additional content‑area licensure encouraged Licensure requirements are subject to change at DESE’s discretion Knowledge of current education legislation and regulations Ability to collaborate with teachers, support staff, and parents and advocate for students to resolve challenges Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills Experience in an urban district is preferred Ability to meet Massachusetts Standards and Indicators of Effective Teaching Practice Understanding of institutional and structural racism and its impact on underserved communities

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide diagnostic, prescriptive, and evaluative services for identified students Plan and implement standards‑based lesson plans and IEP goals Participate in benchmark assessments and continuous progress monitoring Analyze data to assess student achievement and prescribe improvement actions Deliver small‑group instruction for identified students Communicate orally and in writing with students, parents, and collaborators Collaboration with teachers, specialists, and paraprofessionals to plan instruction for diverse learners Apply a variety of instructional strategies appropriate for students from diverse backgrounds and learning styles Model effective teaching strategies and ABA techniques Organize materials and resources to support instructional needs Use time efficiently Perform duties as requested by principals Communicate high standards and expectations for all students
