Sous Chef | Red Bank, NJ | up to $75,000
An energetic and high-quality upscale restaurant in Red Bank, NJ is looking for a Sous Chef to support daily kitchen leadership and help drive culinary excellence. This position is ideal for a motivated chef who enjoys being actively involved in service, coaching line cooks, and maintaining high standards in a fast-paced environment.
The right candidate will bring a strong sense of urgency, attention to detail, and a passion for hospitality and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily kitchen operations and service execution
- Supervise and support line cooks, prep cooks, and culinary staff
- Ensure all dishes are executed consistently and according to standards
- Help train and mentor team members while promoting accountability
- Monitor prep levels, inventory, ordering, and product quality
- Support labor and food cost management initiatives
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment
- Assist with menu rollouts, specials, and seasonal updates
- Lead the kitchen in the Executive Chef’s absence
Qualifications
- Previous Sous Chef or kitchen management experience in upscale dining
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and lead effectively during busy services
- Passion for food quality, hospitality, and team development
- Strong understanding of kitchen systems, prep organization, and sanitation
- Positive attitude and hands-on leadership approach
- Experience working in scratch kitchens preferred
- ServSafe certification preferred
