To continue our standard of excellence, Piedmont is seeking a motivated, reliable professional to join our team as a Senior Compliance Accountant in our Accounting Department. The Senior Compliance Accountant plays a crucial role in ensuring that the company adheres to all relevant financial regulations and internal policies. This role involves monitoring and assessing the effectiveness of compliance controls, preparing detailed reports, and advising management on compliance-related matters. The Senior Compliance Accountant will work closely with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and cross-functional teams to ensure the organization's financial practices are in strict compliance with all applicable laws and standards. In addition, this position is responsible for the preparation of financial statements and assists with day-to-day accounting operations to ensure all transactions are recorded in compliance with company processes and policies. The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field coupled with three years of experience in accounting and auditing. This position will report to the Manager, Accounting.Essential Duties:Monitor compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, and company policiesSupport regulatory reporting requirements, including quarter-end 10-Q and annual 10-K filingsCoordinate verification of assets, audits, and regulatory inquiriesMaintain internal process compliance documentation, test internal controls, and prepare reports for managementCollaborate with internal teams and external auditors to support financial reporting and compliance objectivesRecommend and implement process improvements to enhance compliance effectiveness and efficiencyPrepare monthly journal entriesAnalyze balance sheet accounts for discrepancies by preparing account reconciliationsPrepare financial statementsProvide guidance to accounting staff as neededJob Qualifications and Competencies:Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or another related fieldThree (3) years of experience in accounting or auditing, with at least one (1) year focused on complianceStrong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) compliance, and relevant regulatory frameworksExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong attention to detail and ability to work independentlyEffective communication and interpersonal skillsProficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to manage multiple projects and meet deadlinesPreferred Qualifications:Well-rounded accounting experience spanning both public accounting and private industryCertified Public Accountant (CPA) CertificationWork Environment:Standard office environment, use of telephones, computers, and other office equipmentSome travel may be requiredPhysical Requirements:Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.The above statements provide a brief description of the general nature of work performed and are not intended to be a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required for this position.
