Grant Accountant

Ultimate Staffing Services is actively seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Grant Accountant to join their client\'s team in California. This position offers the opportunity to work with a well-established organization in the Fresno area, providing financial administration of grants and contracts while ensuring compliance with funding requirements. The role involves supporting project teams and managing post-award accounting activities from award setup through closeout. Key Responsibilities Establish and maintain grant and contract accounts. Prepare, review, and submit invoices, financial reports, and reimbursement requests to funding agencies. Monitor grant and contract expenditures to ensure compliance with federal, state, sponsor, and organizational guidelines. Review and approve purchase requisitions, payment requests, and payroll transactions for funding availability and budget compliance. Process journal entries, account adjustments, and financial reconciliations. Provide guidance and customer support to project managers, administrative staff, and funding agencies regarding budgets, account balances, reporting requirements, and allowable costs. Monitor reporting deadlines and ensure all financial deliverables are submitted accurately and on time. Assist with subcontract monitoring, budget revisions, and account management. Coordinate grant and contract closeout activities, including final reporting and collection of outstanding receivables. Support internal and external audits and maintain accurate records and documentation. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of accounting, grants administration, or financial support experience. Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Knowledge of federal and state grant regulations and contract compliance preferred. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word. Ability to learn and utilize financial and accounting systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong customer service mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. Valid driver\'s license may be required.
