Mission Support Specialist

Position Overview This position is located in DEA Washington, Washington, DC, with the Washington Field Division. The primary purpose is to assist leadership in the performance of administrative, human resource liaison, internal control, logistics, quality assurance, records management, and Task Force Officer (TFO) Management. Eligibility Requirements Applicants must meet the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of the announcement. Applicants applying for the GS-09 level must meet one of the following requirements: A. At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to work at the GS-07 level. Specialized experience includes paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work through National Service programs (Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations. Volunteer work builds critical competencies, knowledge, and skills that translate directly to paid employment. All qualifying experience, including volunteer experience, is credited. Overseeing projects related to compliance audit and review programs, policies, procedures, and practices concerning HQ goals and significant areas of interest. Preparing and processing confidential employee matters. Carrying out specified segments of specific projects (e.g., data collection and analysis, preparing reports, briefings). Addressing complex problems or interrelated issues in developing and maintaining a strong administrative program. Providing guidance to management, recommending actions to ensure economical and efficient use of equipment and other property. B. Education: A Master’s or equivalent graduate degree, or two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related. C. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination may qualify as long as the computed percentage of requirements is at least 100%. Compute the percentage by dividing total months of experience by 12. Then divide total completed graduate semester hours beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Applicants applying for the GS-11 level must meet one of the following requirements: A. At least one full year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to work at the GS-09 level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work through National Service programs and other organizations. Volunteer work builds critical competencies, knowledge, and skills that translate directly to paid employment. All qualifying experience, including volunteer experience, is credited. Overseeing projects related to compliance audit and review programs, policies, procedures, and practices concerning HQ goals and significant areas of interest. Preparing requests for personnel actions (SF-52s, RPAs, or PARs), working closely with Headquarters Human Resources Specialist(s) and Management. Performing vehicle management, including ensuring timely maintenance, service, repairs, supplement equipment, and documentation. Providing guidance to management, recommending actions to ensure economical and efficient use of equipment and other property. Completing routine logistics functions to include supply management, inventory management, accountable property management, facility management, and transportation and fleet management/maintenance. Managing the Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) program for the division, which includes the Task Force Officers (TFO), task force processes, agreements, and termination of TFOs. B. Education: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three (3) full academic years of graduate level education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., if related. C. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination may qualify as long as the computed percentage of requirements is at least 100%. Compute in a similar manner to the GS-09 level, but using the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) as the base before dividing by 18. Add the two percentages.
