Job Description

The Asphalt Maintenance Superintendent will be Dehart Asphalt's primary field leader for assigned pavement maintenance projects. The Foreman must possess the knowledge and practical skills necessary to oversee and perform all major aspects of asphalt and pavement maintenance , rather than specializing in a single trade or operation.

The successful Leader is hands-on and can take a small crew to a jobsite, understand the scope of work, determine the proper sequence of operations, assign the crew and equipment, perform the work, maintain safety and quality standards, address problems as they arise, and deliver a completed project that meets company and customer expectations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in asphalt, pavement maintenance, paving, or related construction.
• Previous experience as a Foreman, Crew Leader, Lead Technician, or highly experienced pavement maintenance technician.
• Demonstrated competency across multiple pavement maintenance operations, including asphalt paving, asphalt patching, crack sealing, sealcoating, striping, pavement markings, signage, and surface preparation.
• Strong understanding of asphalt and pavement maintenance methods, materials, equipment, and jobsite procedures.
• Ability to independently lead a small crew through different types of pavement projects.
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot a variety of pavement maintenance and construction equipment.
• Ability to read and understand plans, specifications, work orders, layouts, and measurements.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
• Valid driver's license required.
• CDL preferred, where applicable.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around traffic, heavy equipment, asphalt, sealcoat materials, dust, fumes, and noise.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work and remain active throughout the workday.
