Manufacturing Maintenance Technician

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Maintenance Technician to support the reliability and performance of our manufacturing facility and infrastructure systems. In this role, you will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and repair equipment issues, and help minimize downtime to support a 24/7 industrial environment. You will play a key role in maintaining production efficiency by responding to emergency repairs, supporting new equipment installations, and ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards. This position also participates in the site’s Emergency Response Team (ERT), requiring a strong commitment to safety, preparedness, and continuous training. The ideal candidate is hands-on, mechanically inclined, and able to work independently while adapting to changing priorities. Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required Trade or technical school degree or equivalent experience preferred 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience preferred General mechanical maintenance and equipment repair Welding, fabrication, or pipefitting Plumbing, carpentry, and facility upkeep Reading blueprints and using diagnostic tools You’ll do well in this role if you: Prefer a variety of tasks over repetitive, single-discipline work Are comfortable working independently and solving problems in real time Can shift priorities quickly to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment Value safety and are willing to participate in emergency response activities This position is a great fit for technicians coming from manufacturing, industrial plants, facilities maintenance, or military maintenance backgrounds who are looking to apply a wide range of hands‑on skills. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Effectively performs emergency and unscheduled repairs and preventative maintenance tasks per policies and procedures Responsible for completing maintenance activities on schedule and within quality standards to limit equipment downtime Successfully performs maintenance related activities correlated to the installation of new equipment and process controls Accurately completes and communicates required documentation of work orders, status updates and service records Directs assigned projects including procurement, installation, renovations, and modifications per PSM compliance standards and within safe work practices Approaches all activities with a “safety first” attitude, keeping work, storage, and supply areas clean and organized. Working Conditions Direct physical work in an industrial manufacturing setting Exposure to dusts, fumes, heat, noise, cold and potential exposure to hazardous and toxic materials Potential to work in isolated locations Work may occasionally be performed outdoors in variable weather conditions Work may consist of being elevated either on ladder or lift, or in tight spaces Working hours may consist of off-shift, on-call, weekends, and holidays to accommodate a 24/7 operation Physical Requirements Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs occasionally. Ability to climb, bend, reach, push, pull, and work on ladders or mechanical lifts. Ability to wear required PPE and safety equipment for extended periods. Ability to meet physical requirements for required Emergency Response Team participation. Safety Requirements All employees must comply with site EHS procedures and Coherent Corporate EHS standards. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Safety glasses, goggles, splash shields Steel toe footwear Long pants, sleeved uniform, hearing protection Dust mask, respirator, or supplied air as required Medical Screening Pre-employment PFT and respirator physical Required Annual PFT and respirator physicals Quality and Environmental Responsibilities Due to inventory quantities of some highly hazardous materials, MPZ is covered by OSHA standard for Process Safety Management, as well as EPA’s Risk Management program. All MPZ personnel are required to understand the importance of following all operating procedures to maintain regulatory compliance with these programs. Due to classification of several process waste streams, DEP standards for Hazardous Waste handling and storage must be followed to ensure regulatory compliance. Coherent meets the ISO 9001 quality standards. MPZ employees must understand and follow all applicable Quality Assurance policies and participate in audits to maintain ISO 9001 certification. Failure to follow operating procedures could result in a release of hazardous materials, impacting employees and the environment.
