ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. This position requires a minimum of two years of recent ICU experience. The ideal candidate will be committed to delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with healthcare professionals, including attending physicians and student providers.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Nights
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Unit Information

The position is located in a 34-bed Med Surg ICU. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:1-2 for ICU, 1:4-5 for PCU, and 1:5-6 for Med Surge. The unit cares for a diverse range of patients including adults and pediatrics over 15 years old, with various critical conditions such as:

• Neurological surgery
• Respiratory failure
• ARDS
• Sepsis
• Stroke
• Cardiogenic shock
• Renal failure
• General surgery
• Psychiatric emergencies
• GI bleeds
• Cancer-specific surgeries

Responsibilities

The role includes, but is not limited to:

• Titrating various medications, including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, and sedation.
• Monitoring vital signs and interpreting telemetry readings using Draeger heart monitoring systems.
• Providing care for a range of procedures such as central venous placement and administering therapies for hypothermia protocols.
• Participating in Rapid Response Teams and codes as necessary.
• Working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment to optimize patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
• Two years of recent ICU nursing experience required.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting telemetry strips.
• Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive and proactive attitude.

Other Details

• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend.
• Holiday requirement: Work 2 out of 3 major holidays or as needed based on unit requirements.
• Floating requirements: May float to all inpatient units, excluding maternity and NICU.
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs are required.
• Orientation: Two shifts of unit-specific orientation.
