Details Med/Surg Oncology unit caring for all solid tumor cancer types across the full care spectrum, including new diagnosis, active treatment, and end-of-life transition Common diagnoses include breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancer, as well as antineoplastic chemotherapy encounters Adult and geriatric patient population Staffing ratio goal of 1:4, up to 1:5 Day shift (3x12, 7:00-19:30) and night shift (3x12, 19:00-7:30) available Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs No set or blocked scheduling offered Floating required to other Med/Surg Oncology units Uses Epic for computerized charting Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention Requirements Active OH or compact RN license required at time of submission BLS certification required ONS Chemo certification preferred 2 years of current acute care experience required, consistently worked within the last 12 months and specific to Med/Surg Tele specialty Oncology experience preferred but not required Epic charting experience required Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, central line blood draws, blood product administration, telemetry interpretation and monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, isolation precautions/PPE, and administration of chemotherapy Accessing/managing ports and tracheostomy care/management preferred skills Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor and the second from a manager/director/supervisor or charge RN; coworker references not accepted Additional Information Willingness to learn and grow nursing practice is valued; previous travel experience preferred but not required First-time travelers are welcome to apply Locals accepted at the same rate Former employees eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon signing contract; candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those at extreme distances will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet American Traveler Job ID P-738689.
