Details Med/Surg Oncology unit within a cancer hospital setting Cares for adult and geriatric patients across all solid tumor cancers, including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancer Patients range from new diagnosis through treatment and end-of-life care, including those receiving antineoplastic chemotherapy True med/surg patient acuity with heavy focus on infection prevention and fall prevention protocols Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, but may be up to 1:5 Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs No set or blocked scheduling offered Floating required to other MedSurg Oncology units Day shift (3x12, 7:00-19:30) and Night shift (3x12, 19:00-7:30) available Uses Epic for computerized charting Requirements Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration Current BLS certification required ONS Chemo certification preferred 2 years of current acute care experience required, consistently within the last 12 months and in the specialty applied for Oncology experience preferred but not required Experience with telemetry interpretation and monitoring required Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, and central line blood draws Experience accessing and managing ports preferred Experience with blood product administration Experience administering chemotherapy preferred Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols Tracheostomy care and management experience preferred Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program Epic charting experience required Additional Information Care team supports patients through the full cancer journey, from diagnosis through treatment and transition to end-of-life care Candidates should come with a willingness to learn and grow their nursing practice Previous travel experience preferred, but not required Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager, Director, or Supervisor; a Charge RN may serve as the second reference; coworker references are not accepted Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less Local candidates are accepted at the same rate Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting as soon as they sign their contract due to strict processing timelines American Traveler Job ID P-742163.
