Work Environment\n

This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from Chula Vista, California, or any location within the state. Our telehealth setting emphasizes flexibility, enabling counselors to conduct sessions via secure digital platforms while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations. You will have access to professional resources and support while managing your schedule effectively within our Monday to Friday workweek (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM).

Key Responsibilities\n

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, your role includes the following key responsibilities:

• Conduct timely assessments and provide crisis intervention strategies to support patients facing emotional and behavioral issues.

• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, employing evidence-based practices tailored to each patient's unique needs and circumstances.

• Communicate regularly with physicians and allied health professionals to report on patient progress, potential concerns, and treatment outcomes.

• Document clinical activities accurately and promptly in line with department policy to ensure continuity of care and compliance with best practices.

• Collaborate with cross-functional clinical teams to develop comprehensive treatment plans, including discharge planning based on psychosocial assessments.

• Engage with community resource leaders to support patient needs, representing our organization on committees focused on mental health advocacy and related social issues.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The patient population at Shirley Mental Health Services is diverse, ranging across various age groups and backgrounds. As a counselor, you will encounter clients grappling with a range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, and trauma-related issues. You will be expected to apply a culturally sensitive approach, tailoring interventions to meet the unique needs of each client.

Qualifications\n

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following qualifications:

• A Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.

• A valid, independent mental health license, such as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

• A minimum of two years of professional experience in a mental health counseling role, with demonstrated expertise in conducting therapy and assessments.

Preferred Experience\n

While not mandatory, candidates with experience in telehealth environments, familiarity with electronic health record systems, and a background in evidence-based practice methodologies will be highly regarded.

Compensation and Benefits\n
