Expectations

The ideal candidate will possess the necessary foundation, preparation, and vision to embark on a rewarding career in academic urology. This individual should exhibit strong clinical skills and expertise in all facets of endourology, particularly in the medical and surgical management of stone disease.

Active participation in the educational objectives of the department is expected, which includes teaching, mentoring, and supervising a diverse array of learners such as medical students, residents, fellows, and PA/NP students. Additionally, the candidate will engage in clinical and/or translational research, with opportunities for dedicated research time to foster a successful scholarly program.

Moreover, the candidate will enhance the academic mission of the department through scholarly endeavors, involvement in educational conferences, and other initiatives that promote advancements in urology. Engagement in relevant professional societies and educational organizations is both encouraged and anticipated. The candidate will also contribute to departmental and university committees, supporting broader public service missions.

Participation in call coverage and general urology clinical duties will be part of the role.

The selected individual must cultivate a spirit of collegiality and collaborate effectively within a diverse environment that promotes team science and multidisciplinary patient care. Adherence to university policies and sensitivity to the needs of patients from various backgrounds is essential.

This recruitment is open for positions at the assistant, associate, and full professor levels. The final appointment will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and background.

The salary range for this role is between $346,267 and $765,311, and it includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.

Qualifications (Basic qualifications at the time of application)

Applicants must meet or be eligible for the following criteria:

• M.D. or D.O. degree
• Board certification or eligibility in Urology
• California medical license or eligibility for full and unrestricted licensure in California
• Strong clinical and surgical capabilities in all aspects of endourology
• Demonstrated teaching experience in a diverse setting
• Proven ability to conduct clinical research
• Evidence of professional and/or scholarly accomplishments
• Publications of scholarly work in medical literature

Additional qualification (required at the time of hire):

• Completion of an ACGME accredited endourology fellowship

The Department of Urologic Surgery is a dynamic academic practice with expertise across all areas of urologic surgery. We offer a 5-year accredited urologic surgery residency, admitting 2-3 residents annually. The medical center is situated in Sacramento, CA, serving as the primary tertiary referral center and the only level 1 adult and pediatric trauma center in the region. The facility has 660 licensed beds and operates busy inpatient and outpatient surgical services.

Located about 90 miles inland from San Francisco, Sacramento is a culturally rich, technologically advanced city and the fastest-growing in California.
