Camp JORI, located on 75 scenic acres in Wakefield, Rhode Island, is a co‑ed Jewish overnight and day camp offering unforgettable summer experiences for children in grades K‑10. With a variety of programs encompassing sports, arts, water activities (featuring two pools and a beautiful waterfront), and other special adventures, Camp JORI provides action‑packed days in a vibrant community. Guided by the values of “TACEO” – Taking Care of Each Other – and enriched with Jewish and Israeli culture, the camp fosters an inclusive, enriching environment for all participants. Multiple session options are available, including a weekend program for those new to overnight camp. Role Description We are seeking a dedicated Sous Chef to assist in planning, preparing, and serving meals for campers and staff at our on‑site kitchen in Wakefield, RI. This is a full‑time, on‑site position requiring collaboration with the Head Chef to ensure dietary needs, including allergies and dietary restrictions, are met. Responsibilities include supervising kitchen staff, managing inventory, maintaining cleanliness and safety standards, and helping create nutritious and appealing menus to enhance the camp dining experience. Requirements Proficiency in food preparation, cooking techniques, and meal planning Experience in managing kitchen operations, including staff supervision and inventory control Knowledge of food safety, sanitary standards, and allergen protocols Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to maintain a collaborative and positive team environment Prior food service or culinary experience is highly preferred Culinary certifications or training is a plus but not required ServSafe certification 2‑5 years of cooking experience Positive attitude, an ability to work well with others You must relocate to Wakefield, RI for the summer.
