Pre-Litigation Attorney

An established personal injury practice is seeking a Junior Pre-Litigation Attorney to support early-stage case handling and resolution efforts. This position is ideal for an attorney looking to strengthen their skills in case analysis, client interaction, and insurance negotiations within a structured, team-oriented environment. You will play a key role in evaluating claims, guiding case direction, and helping move files efficiently toward resolution. What You’ll Do Ownership of Assigned Matters Oversee personal injury files during the pre-litigation phase from initial review through resolution. Analyze facts, documentation, and medical treatment to assess claim viability and exposure. Determine appropriate next steps, including settlement strategy or litigation referral. Client-Facing Responsibilities Maintain direct communication with clients to provide updates and legal insight. Set expectations regarding timelines, treatment progression, and claim outcomes. Ensure a high level of professionalism and responsiveness throughout the process. Insurance & Settlement Strategy Engage with insurance representatives to negotiate and resolve claims. Review case materials to support demand preparation and valuation. Assess settlement opportunities and recommend next steps based on case posture. File Review & Case Movement Monitor case activity to ensure timely progress and identify any delays. Review documentation, medical records, and supporting materials for completeness. Flag files requiring escalation or additional legal input. Coordinate with support staff to ensure alignment on case direction and priorities. Provide guidance on file handling and next steps. Participate in internal discussions focused on case strategy and workflow improvements. Required Background Active California Bar license in good standing. 1–3 years of experience in personal injury or related practice area. Familiarity with handling claims prior to litigation is highly preferred. Strong ability to assess liability, damages, and case value. Effective communicator with solid negotiation skills.
