Exciting opportunities are available for dedicated Special Education Teachers seeking a meaningful contract position in an elementary school setting near Portland, ME. This engaging role is open for immediate start and extends through June 11, 2027. Work alongside passionate educators, making a direct impact on the lives of students, while enjoying a consistent weekday schedule of 32.5 hours (Monday through Friday, 7:25 AM to 2:10 PM, with early release on Wednesdays at 1:10 PM).
Applicants with experience in life skills and/or behavior programs are highly valued. The position welcomes both experienced on-site professionals and qualified virtual candidates.
Key Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Special Education Teacher
- Experience working in elementary special education environments
- Preferred background in life skills and/or behavior intervention programs
- Willingness to work with students with diverse learning needs
- Ability to cultivate a supportive, inclusive classroom
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- For virtual roles: ability to secure 1099 status and liability insurance
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
- Foster a positive and structured classroom environment
- Track student progress, collaborating with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Employ evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies
- Adapt instruction and materials to meet varying learning styles
- Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to school-wide initiatives
On-site W2 contractors will receive a competitive hourly pay range of $34 to $38, along with access to comprehensive benefits. Virtual candidates may apply on a 1099 contract basis, with liability insurance required.
