Job Title Market Grille Cook Department Market Grille FLSA Status Non-Exempt General Function Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service while preparing various foods for the Market Grille. Responsible for all hot and cold foods, including available heat‑and‑eat varieties. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service, exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all interactions. Smile and greet customers, and address them by name whenever possible. Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing hard‑to‑reach items, loading or unloading heavy items, noting and forwarding customer suggestions or requests, and performing other tasks that enhance the shopping experience. Answer the telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to callers. Work with co‑workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment. Prepare cooking surfaces and cook vegetables, sides, meats, breakfast foods and all menu items. Place food in hot cases, monitor amounts, and refill as necessary. Be knowledgeable of all menu items and able to take guests’ orders. Prepare items for upcoming shifts and maintain strict adherence to sanitation procedures. Keep the work area always clean and neat, following personal hygiene and dress guidelines. Adhere to company policies and individual store guidelines, reporting to work on schedule and on time. Secondary Duties and Responsibilities Provide direct customer service when necessary. Order product and supplies or notify department manager(s) of needs. Assist in other areas of the store as needed. Perform other job‑related duties and special projects as required. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization. Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, count and record. Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions, write identifying information, and request supplies orally or in writing. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent; six months or less of similar or related work experience. Physical Requirements Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; up to 20 pounds frequently; and up to 10 pounds constantly. Must perform tasks such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet, with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision. Working Conditions Frequently exposed to a cool and warm environment, dampness, equipment noise, vibrations, and cleaning chemicals. Fast‑paced work environment with potential equipment movement hazards. Equipment Used to Perform Job Grill, toaster, coffee machine, fryer, flat top stove, oven, steamer, chopper, hot case, kitchen utensils, knives, stove, chicken roaster, can opener, and C.A.R.S. reordering system. Contacts Deals with customers on a daily basis. Wage The anticipated hourly starting wage for this position is $17.00 to $21.25 depending on experience.
