FINANCIAL ANALYST Job Number: 420160 Job Summary Under general supervision, performs complex financial analysis of fiscal/cost data for City programs and services, and performs related duties as required. Starting Salary: $71,772.00 Essential Duties Research current and historical revenues and expenditures, identify trends, and prepare fiscal projections. Analyze debt, fiscal liabilities, and operational costs and prepare budget estimates. Formulate rate structures and calculate various fees for departmental programs and services. Audit financial documents to ensure entries are accurate, appropriately allocated to accounts, and comply with contract and funding guidelines, and reconcile accounts as required. Prepare fiscal reports. Search the Internet, departmental databases, and external resources to obtain pricing data for proposed services. Prepare status reports of budgetary activities and special projects. Interpret and explain complex budgetary policies and city-wide fiscal objectives to staff. Participate in the development and revision of policies and procedures to ensure the city's fiscal and budgetary goals are met. Provide technical assistance to staff in operating departments engaged in the preparation of budget estimates for corporate and grant-funded programs and services and equipment purchases. Analyze current and past spending patterns and forecast revenue to make recommendations for budget appropriations. Additional duties may be required for this position. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, or a directly related field, plus one (1) year of work experience in the analysis of financial records.
