Payroll Clerk

Kforce has a client in Herndon, VA that is seeking a Payroll Clerk. Summary: The Payroll Clerk is an entry-level position responsible for supporting the day-to-day administration and processing of payroll. This role works closely with the Payroll and Human Resources teams to ensure employee time, payroll data, and related information are entered accurately and processed in a timely manner. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, comfortable working with numbers, and eager to learn payroll processes and systems. Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with the preparation and processing of weekly, biweekly, or semimonthly payroll
• Enter and maintain employee payroll information, including new hires, terminations, pay changes, deductions, and other updates
• Review employee timesheets and timekeeping records for accuracy and completeness
• Assist with resolving discrepancies related to hours worked, pay rates, deductions, and employee information
• Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation
• Assist with payroll-related data entry, reconciliations, and reporting
• Support the processing of payroll deductions, garnishments, benefits, and other payroll adjustments as needed
• Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and reconciliation
• Respond to basic employee questions regarding payroll and direct more complex inquiries to the appropriate team member
• Maintain confidentiality of employee compensation and personal information
• Assist with payroll audits and provide supporting documentation as requested
• Perform general administrative and clerical duties in support of the Payroll and Finance teams
• Learn and utilize the organization's payroll and timekeeping systems
• Experience with high volume payroll and processing weekly
• Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
