Under supervision, performs miscellaneous clerical, administrative, research or other work related to the operation of a College or other unit where such work is required on a part-time basis or for a period of limited duration. Maximum tenure for any employee in this hourly position is 1040 hours per year. Performs routine clerical work; may answer and attend to telephone calls; maintain records, operate office machines (such as copier), sort and distribute mail, issue keys and identity cards, act as messenger, and perform related tasks as required. Types letters, memoranda, charts, and similar materials. Acts as cashier. Assists in statistical or research activities. May collect and compile data, code data for computer entry, perform data entry, and run computer reports. Performs clerical library work, such as sorting and shelving books, performing data entry into library systems, or binding books and periodicals. Assists in instructional programs, including tutoring and assisting students in areas such as reading and mathematics. May assist in speech and hearing therapy, provide musical accompaniment, and/or distribute and collect physical education equipment. Enters and maintains departmental records such as inventory control records, rosters, directories, and schedules. May operate computers, computer software, and other electronic equipment in performing assigned tasks. Assist with other duties, as necessary.

Program in Cognitive Neuroscience seeks a College Assistant; this is a part-time role for 926 hours per year. The position reports to the Assistant Program. This is a hybrid role, and the incumbent will work on site and remotely. All full-time and part-time CUNY staff are expected to work in-person at their campus office 80% of their work time. This hybrid work schedule is subject to change. Duties Include But Are Not Limited To Perform administrative tasks for the Cognitive Neuroscience program and the CUNY Neuroscience Collaborative (CNC). Download candidates’ applications, create and assist the Admissions Committee, and coordinate open house, orientation, workshops, and special events. Provide CUNYfirst student support. Maintain program-related forms, forward campus-wide announcements to faculty and students, update mailing lists, student records, and databases. Respond to student and faculty inquiries. Updates programs’ various websites. Schedule advisement appointments. Schedule faculty/executive committee meetings. Assist with program student and faculty elections. Create flyers and invitations for special events; set up Eventbrite. Maintain student handbooks. Assist and create purchase requisitions for special events and promotional items. Distribute course evaluations to students. Assist with other duties, as necessary. Minimum Qualifications Must demonstrate sufficient skills to perform the duties of the assigned tasks. Other Qualifications Preferred Qualifications: MS Office Suite Proficient with PC; familiarity with Mac Excellent communicator and writer Excellent interpersonal relationships Team player / takes directions well Previous experience with Survey Monkey / Doodle Poll/ Qualtrics Previous experience with graphic design and web design Excellent critical thinking skills Compensation $22.37/hr Benefits CUNY offers a comprehensive benefits package to employees and eligible dependents based on job title and classification.
