Practice Area: Medical Malpractice / Healthcare Litigation Defense Position: Full-Time Whitaker Bell is an established Houston-based litigation firm with a strong presence in health care litigation looking for a Paralegal / Legal Assistant to join its growing Houston office. Whitaker Bell is seeking an experienced, organized, and dependable Paralegal / Legal Assistant to join our litigation team. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, comfortable managing a busy litigation docket, and able to work effectively with attorneys, clients, experts, and other members of the legal team. This position is well suited for someone who takes ownership of their work, anticipates deadlines and attorney needs, and enjoys being an integral part of a litigation team. Prior experience is a bonus, but not necessary to apply for the position. Key Responsibilities: Assist attorneys : Case management from initial assignment through trial and resolution. Legal Research : Search statutes, regulations, and past court decisions to support a case. Document Drafting: Prepare routine pleadings, discovery documents, notices, correspondence, subpoenas, authorizations, and other legal documents for attorney review. Fact Investigation: Gather evidence, review reports, and track down public records. Client and Witness Communication: Interview clients, schedule depositions, and prepare witnesses for testimony. Case and Trial Preparation: Organize exhibits, manage trial notebooks, and take notes during hearings. Court Filings: Submit legal documents and briefs to courts, government agencies, or opposing counsel.
