Program Specialist

The City of Torrance is recruiting for Program Specialists to be part of the Torrance Theater Company Team! The Community Services Department offers Torrance residents the unique opportunity to help achieve a sense of purpose, identity, self-worth and improved self-esteem within the specialized areas of Cultural Arts, Library, Parks and Recreation. Under direction, Program Specialists are generally in charge of a site or a major program. Program Specialists assist in planning, directing and implementing program activities and lead and supervise recurrent staff and participants. This is a recurrent, part-time, non-civil service, as needed position. Program Specialists assigned to the Torrance Theatre Company will need to be available at peak times to assist with program logistics. Staff will assist with various production elements including creating sets, procuring/making props, marketing, social media, administrative work, and box office. Hours: Hours will vary week to week based on the needs of the Torrance Theatre. This position is expected to work weekdays, some evenings, and weekends to cover performances as needed.

Performance of the essential duties of this position includes the following physical demands and/or working conditions: Work is typically performed at indoor and outdoor program sites in seasonal weather conditions. Work may require exposure to noise, dust and dirt. Physical demands may include bending, kneeling, squatting, sitting, running and climbing. May lift or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Positions may be required to wear a uniform and employee identification badge. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet while in the office, and moderately loud when in the field.
