Staff Accountant
Location: Greater Chicago Area
Compensation: $70,000-$85,000 DOE + Bonus + Comprehensive Benefits
Growing organization is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This role will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close activities, and assisting with day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Prepare journal entries and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
- Perform bank and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data.
- Assist with payroll-related accounting and invoice processing.
- Prepare financial reports and support budgeting activities.
- Analyze financial information and identify discrepancies or variances.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate accounting records within ERP and financial systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and GAAP principles.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with accounting/ERP systems.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Sage, QuickBooks, or other ERP/accounting software is preferred.
