Company Description Kelleher Law Office, PLLC is a solo law practice founded by Logan Kelleher, a 2025 Drake University Law School graduate. Located in Ames, Iowa, the firm's core practice is rooted in court‑appointed criminal defense, and is actively expanding into family law, estate planning (wills & trusts), and tax law. Role Description The Paralegal/Legal Assistant will provide comprehensive support to the attorney in court‑appointed criminal defense, estate planning, family law, and employment matters. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include drafting and formatting legal documents, organizing case files, maintaining calendars and deadlines, and assisting with client intake and correspondence. The role involves conducting basic legal research, preparing forms and filings, coordinating with courts and agencies, and ensuring accurate record‑keeping. This is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Ames, IA, requiring regular in‑office collaboration with the attorney and clients. Qualifications Strong foundation in law and legal processes, with interest in court‑appointed criminal defense, estate planning, family law, or employment matters. Proficiency in legal document preparation, including drafting, formatting, and reviewing forms, pleadings, and agreements. Effective communication skills for professional interaction with clients, courts, and colleagues, both in writing and in person. Administrative assistance skills, including scheduling, file management (paper and electronic), data entry, and office organization. Strong attention to detail, discretion with confidential information, and ability to prioritize tasks in a deadline‑driven environment. Comfort using legal software, word processing tools, and document management systems; familiarity with Microsoft Office or similar suites. Associate’s degree, paralegal certificate, or comparable legal support experience preferred. Pay and Benefits Compensation for this role will be $19.12 per hour.
