Associate Director, Chief Engineer - HBMAS Program (Contingent)

Location: Aurora, CO, USA Position Type: Onsite (contingent on contract award) Mandatory Security Clearance: Must hold an active TS/SCI clearance prior to start date. Overview Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is seeking an Associate Director‑level Chief Engineer for the AF DCGS High Band Mission Applications Software (HBMAS) Sustainment and Development Program. The role will lead a multidisciplinary team of 49 engineers in an Agile environment, focusing on cloud‑enabled software development, sustainment, cybersecurity, DevSecOps, testing, integration, deployment, and field services. Responsibilities Serve as the program’s top technical authority and be accountable for technical cost and schedule. Own system architecture, cloud strategy, modernization roadmap, and the technical baseline. Guide iterative Agile development, including sprint reviews, backlog prioritization, and PI planning sessions. Perform direct engineering execution across software development, systems engineering, cyber engineering, DevSecOps, test/QA, design support, and field services. Lead customer‑facing technical discussions, architecture reviews, and continuous coordination with AF DCGS engineering and operations teams. Oversee requirements, design, integration, verification, deployment, and sustainment activities. Manage program‑level technical risks, opportunities, and performance measures. Mentor senior engineers, architects, product owners, and discipline leads. Qualifications – Must Have Expertise in software‑intensive systems, cloud architectures, secure data workflows, cyber engineering, and DevSecOps. Experience with classified operational systems. DoD 8570 IAT‑II certification. Typically requires a STEM degree (or equivalent) with at least 12 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 10 years of experience. Active and transferable TS/SCI – current clearance required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship required (only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance). Qualifications – Preferred Experience with AF DCGS or ISR mission systems. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, or rapid capability fielding. Strong communication skills and ability to align technical execution with evolving customer needs. DoD 8570 IAT‑II (Security+ or higher). Demonstrated success leading architecture decisions and modernizing mission capabilities.
