Software Engineer - GenAI Patterns (Commercial & Investment Bank)

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with at least 3 years of applied experience
• Strong full-stack engineering fundamentals, including clean APIs, robust services, and thoughtful user experiences
• Experience building production systems, including CI/CD, monitoring and alerting, incident management, performance tuning, and scalability
• Familiarity with search and retrieval systems, such as semantic search, vector stores, indexing, ranking, and query pipelines
• Hands-on experience with enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools, and the ability to evaluate and refine generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Understanding of responsible AI practices in engineering, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, resiliency, and security expectations
• Comfort working with LLM-based systems, including prompting, structured outputs, evaluation, and guardrails
• Curiosity, adaptability, and motivation to apply modern engineering practices thoughtfully
• Ability to collaborate with engineering, product, and risk and compliance partners
• Preferred: Knowledge of generative AI, prompt engineering, RAG, embeddings, vector search, and LangChain
• Preferred: Knowledge of model evaluation, guardrails, and hallucination reduction
• Preferred: Experience with Python, Java and Spring Boot, OpenAI, vector databases such as Pinecone, and AWS
• Preferred: Open-source contributions or startup experience

• Build and maintain end-to-end, full-stack features across user interfaces, APIs, services, and data layers for AI-enabled products
• Design and implement knowledge libraries and retrieval-augmented generation capabilities, including embedding generation, indexing, and semantic search
• Develop AI-powered content and document-generation solutions with safeguards and auditability for regulated workflows
• Use approved enterprise AI coding tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity; validate results through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding practices, and share reusable learnings with the team
• Apply software development lifecycle tools, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value of automation
• Engineer agentic workflows with robust policy checks, workflow constraints, and deterministic controls
• Implement semantic validation to improve output quality through grounding, relevance, duplication detection, hallucination reduction, and structured evaluation
• Monitor developments in applied AI and machine learning and translate them into practical, maintainable engineering decisions
