Location:          Spokane, WA (community-based; onsite/field work required)
Employment Type: Full-time M-F; may include some evenings/weekends to meet participant needs & partner schedules

FLSA Status: Non-exempt/Hourly
Starting Wage: $24.00/hour - DOE               

Travel: Local travel within Spokane County required

  About This Role

This is a highly relational, guest-centered role that uses  Housing First ,  low-barrier , and  trauma-informed practices to walk alongside families in crisis, helping them remove barriers, navigate housing systems, and secure stable, permanent housing as quickly as possible.

Case Managers collaborate with the Shelter team, Stabilization/Keep Housing Programs team, and community partners to ensure coordinated and compassionate support. Key Responsibilities – Getting Families Housed

1. Direct Case Management & Housing Navigation

• Conduct comprehensive intake, assessment, and goal-setting with each assigned household.
  
• Develop, implement, and update individualized case plans with clear housing goals.
  
• Assist guests in completing housing applications, scheduling housing appointments, and navigating landlord relationships.
  
• Maintain weekly check-ins (minimum) with each household until stable housing is secured.
  
• Provide accurate, timely, and objective case notes and documentation within 48 hours in the case management database and maintain an up-to-date Google Calendar.
• Diversion Case Management (Within the Standard Case Management Role)
  • Diversion case management is a specialized intervention within the standard Case Manager role and does not replace or reduce the core case management responsibilities outlined above. Case Managers assigned to diversion work are required to carry out all standard case management and housing navigation duties, in addition to diversion-specific activities.

2. Guest Engagement & Support

• Build trusting, professional relationships with guest families using trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches.
  
• Connect households to supportive services (childcare, employment, transportation, healthcare) to remove barriers to housing.
  
• De-escalate challenging situations and maintain a strong safe, inclusive, and low-barrier environment aligned with Family Promise values.

3. Collaboration & Partnership

• Collaborate with the Get Housing Case Management team to identify and share programs and resources that meet families’ needs and eligibility, and assist families with accessing and enrolling in appropriate services.
• Work closely with shelter staff to ensure a seamless guest experience and coordinated service delivery.
  
• Build and maintain relationships with landlords, housing providers, and community partners to expand housing opportunities.
  
• Represent Family Promise at community meetings, training, and housing coalitions as assigned.

4. Compliance & Professionalism

• Follow all confidentiality, privacy, and professional boundary requirements in accordance with WA State law and agency policies.
  
• Adhere to mandatory reporting laws and report any suspected abuse or neglect immediately.
  
• Communicate incidents of mistreatment, safety concerns, or unethical behavior promptly to leadership.
  
• Complete all required documentation, billing, and reporting to maintain program compliance.

5. Team Engagement

• Attend mandatory monthly all-staff meetings, weekly department meetings, and participate in case conferencing.
  
• Share resources and collaborate with the Get Housing team to support one another during high caseload periods.
  
• Participate in training, skill-building, and reflective supervision to strengthen trauma-informed practice.
  
• Assist with operational tasks, program improvement initiatives, and shelter operations as needed.

6.  Attendance

• Consistent and reliable attendance is a basic requirement of this position as it is a direct correlation to be able to perform these essential job functions.

✅ Qualifications

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required.
  
• Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field  OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  
• Minimum of 2 years experience working with children, families, or vulnerable populations.
  
• Housing navigation, homelessness services, or case management experience preferred.
  
• Training/certification in trauma-informed care, de-escalation, or related fields preferred.
  
• A valid Washington State Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record are required as a condition of employment due to the nature of this position. Case Managers are expected to transport and/or accompany families to government agencies and other locations to obtain required documentation and access services. Driving is an essential function of the position and will be required during scheduled shifts. Applicants whose driving record does not meet the organization’s insurability requirements will not be eligible for this position.
• Passing an annual background check is required as a condition of employment.

Preferred:

• Two or more years of experience in housing placement, landlord engagement, or rapid rehousing programs.
• Bilingual or multilingual skills, especially in languages prevalent in the Spokane area.
• Familiarity with trauma-informed care and de-escalation techniques.
• Experience collaborating with government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and community partners.
• Knowledge of fair housing laws, landlord–tenant rights, and Spokane County housing market trends.
• Experience using motivational interviewing or other strengths-based, client-centered approaches.
