Principal Associate - Card Risk (Hybrid)

As a Principal Associate Risk Manager at Capital One, you’ll be responsible for working with business partners to identify and mitigate potential risks to Capital One platforms. General Responsibilities Facilitating the risk assessment process associated with new or changing intent for multiple Card business areas Developing management reporting based on risk assessments Coordinating process interactions, including meeting logistics, and facilitating collaborative meetings with 1st and 2nd line participants Staying current on the changing regulatory environment and understanding its impacts on your businesses Partnering with data analysts to iterate and improve risk monitoring and reporting Synthesizing data and performing analysis to bring valuable business insights to the Card business Assessing controls, and gleaning insights from issues and events across business areas Designing, implementing, and influencing internal governance processes Connecting the dots of changing strategic and operational priorities and risk environment to partner with risk advisors and business to understand impacts Partnering with internal customers to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to drive project delivery Demonstrating outstanding communication and partnership skills essential for interacting with stakeholders across all levels to manage, inform, and influence outcomes Supporting, partnering, and interacting with internal business clients in many roles such as advisor, project manager, or performer What we’re looking for in an ideal teammate A critical thinker who understands the business, its processes, risks, and control environment Someone who creates an environment that fosters trust, collaboration, and belonging A relentless focus on quality and timeliness Someone who adapts to change, embraces bold ideas, and is intellectually curious—asking questions, testing assumptions, and challenging conventional thinking Adept at developing influential relationships based on shared risk objectives Someone who does the right thing and leads by example Basic Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification At least 1 year of risk management or compliance experience At least 2 years of project or process management experience At least 2 years of experience supporting, partnering, and interacting with internal business clients Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or military experience 1+ years of experience facilitating and conducting Risk Assessments 1+ years of experience developing presentations for senior stakeholders 1+ years of experience reporting and analyzing data

4+ years of experience supporting, partnering, and interacting with internal business clients Professional certifications within risk management or assurance (e.g., Certified Risk Management Professional, Certified Internal Auditor) Benefits and Salary Minimum and maximum full‑time annual salaries for this role are listed by location. For example: Chicago, IL: $109,900 – $125,400. McLean, VA: $120,800 – $137,900. Richmond, VA: $109,900 – $125,400. Salaries for part‑time roles will be prorated. This role is also eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation and long‑term incentives.
