Help shape the academic journey of young learners as a Special Education Teacher for a contract opportunity near Joliet, IL. This role focuses on supporting 1st and 2nd grade students in an inclusive setting, providing specialized instruction for a caseload of 12 children with diverse needs—including Developmental Delay, Specific Learning Disability, and Other Health Impairments. As an inclusion teacher, you'll collaborate with general education staff and may occasionally deliver targeted pull-out services to further enrich student progress.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Certified in Special Education (Illinois credentials preferred)
• Experience teaching elementary students with varying disabilities
• Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
• Ability to foster a positive, supportive classroom environment
• Effective communication skills for families, staff, and related service teams
• Flexibility in delivering both inclusion and pull-out services as student needs arise

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and differentiated support within the general education classroom
• Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum and adapt lessons
• Monitor academic and social-emotional progress for a caseload of 12 students
• Participate actively in IEP meetings and contribute to comprehensive student plans
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation on student progress and service delivery
• Foster strong, supportive relationships with students and their families

This is a full-time contract position with 6.5 paid hours daily and a .5 hour unpaid lunch each school day. You’ll play a vital part in building a positive classroom community where every learner can succeed and feel included.
