Job Summary This position seeks to respond to calls generated by a variety of BGEA and Samaritan’s Purse projects in such a way as to provide service to constituents in accordance with department procedures and standards. Will also place outbound calls to constituents. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Answer incoming calls as they are received on the individual’s login identification. Handle calls and constituents with professionalism, tact, and courtesy, following the procedures and policies established by the department. Promptly analyze the caller’s needs and connect them to the proper solution by listening, locating information, answering questions, or transferring to the appropriate department. Accurately record data from callers into the Christian Response database, including mailing list changes, request for materials, and credit card contributions. Work on outbound call projects as directed. Study department and association procedures, informational material, BGEA history, current events, and other resources provided to the Christian Response Staff to utilize this information during calls. Respond to the spiritual needs of callers by praying with them and leading them to Christ when necessary. Attend all required Christian Response Staff meetings as requested. Marginal Duties and Responsibilities Other duties as assigned. Skills and Knowledge General knowledge of BGEA and agreement with its philosophy and principles. Basic understanding and agreement with the Christian Response philosophy and principles. Solid and active Christian walk. Ability to handle multiple issues and processes simultaneously (e.g., talking on the telephone while entering information). Customer Service and/or previous telephone experience preferred. Experience with PCs, Windows, Databases. Good basic math and spelling skills. Good telephone voice. Express desire to be part of a team and to provide assistance to callers and other BGEA staff. Cooperative, flexible, and optimistic about change. Minimum of 35 wpm typing ability. Physical / Mental Demands Flexible hours and overtime will be required. Nights, weekends, and holidays required. Must be confident and secure when handling difficult and emotional callers. Must respect and accept responsibility for confidential information. Significant time may be required using the PC while talking on the telephone. Working Conditions Standard cubicle environment with PC, phone, and access to printer and copier. Close interaction with other people. Time off must be approved by supervisor. Benefits Summary Associate or Seasonal employees may work up to 19 hours a week (not to exceed 1000 hours a year (calendar/sequential)), and are not eligible for any benefits.
