Overview PRIMARY PURPOSE: Facilitate the efficient operation of the school administrative office and provide clerical services for the school's administrative staff. Qualifications Minimum Education/Certification: High School diploma or GED Special Knowledge/Skills: Proficient skills in typing, word processing and file maintenance Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to operate computer Ability to maintain ledger, financial statements, etc. Minimum Experience: One to three years of secretarial experience preferably in a public education environment Major Responsibilities and Duties Assist students, teachers, and parents as needed. Type written correspondence and properly route as assigned. Receive incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff and students. Maintain proper files to include inventory of school property, mailing lists, student records, visitor logs, and office communication. Sort, distribute, or deliver mail and other documents. Prepare instructional materials and campus communication as requested. Schedule meetings and appointment and maintain calendar. Monitor personnel time records to include sick leave, attendance, and substitutes. Update handbook, policy manuals, etc. Assist principals in distributing and keeping copies of all purchase order information, typing purchase orders with pertinent information throughout the year. Collect monies and ready for deposit, keep checkbook, ledger and financial report on a monthly basis. Manage multiple ongoing tasks. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, responsible, and serve as a role model for all district staff. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school policies and regulations concerning primary job functions. Perform all other related duties as assigned. Ensure confidentiality of information. Equipment Used Uses computer, printer, copier, and 10-key adding machine or calculator. Working Conditions Mental Demands: Reading; ability to perform basic arithmetic; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress. Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Works with frequent interruptions. Bending, stooping, some lifting. Work days: 220 FISD pays $365 a month towards TRS Health Insurance You can earn up to 5 local and 5 state days if you start at beginning of school year.
