Position Overview:
The Clinical Psychologist – Executive Functioning & Educational Support Specialist is responsible for providing high-quality, evidence-based assessment, treatment, consultation, and training services while promoting excellence in clinical practice and education among trainees and staff. This role involves direct clinical care, executive functioning coaching and intervention, consultation, supervision, and administrative responsibilities. Additionally, the Clinical Psychologist serves as an ambassador for CBC, upholding its values in all professional interactions both within and outside the organization.
In this role, the Clinical Psychologist evaluates and treats children, adolescents, young adults, and families experiencing emotional, behavioral, academic, organizational, attentional, and executive functioning challenges. The Clinical Psychologist develops individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based approaches to improve emotional well-being, self-regulation, organization, planning, time management, study skills, motivation, and overall functioning across home, school, work, and community settings.
Treatment modalities may include individual therapy, parent training, family therapy, executive functioning intervention, skills-based coaching, school consultation, and group services. The Clinical Psychologist may also collaborate with schools, physicians, learning specialists, and other providers to support implementation of recommendations and improve client outcomes.
Depending on their level of experience and seniority, the Clinical Psychologist may supervise trainees. Those with relevant expertise and interest may further engage in consulting, coaching, workshops, training programs, school-based services, and educational support initiatives.
To ensure continuity of care and uphold professional standards, the Clinical Psychologist is expected to maintain accurate patient records, uphold confidentiality, complete administrative paperwork, and manage billing and collections promptly. When possible, missed sessions should be rescheduled to maintain treatment consistency. Additionally, the Clinical Psychologist is expected to participate in peer consultation meetings, engage in continuing education, and maintain effective communication with patients, families, schools, referents, colleagues, administrators, and other relevant parties.
Responsibilities
Direct Clinical Care Professional Duties Include:
- 24 45-minute Professional Service Requirement Units per week for a total of 47 weeks annually (Clinical RG SUs).
- Identify psychological, emotional, behavioral, attentional, academic, and executive functioning concerns through interviews, measures, observations, and record review.
- Diagnose mental health disorders and develop case conceptualizations using evidence-based clinical practices.
- Build rapport and guide clients to gain insight, define goals, develop self-awareness, and implement effective strategies for success.
- Conduct individual, family, parenting, and group sessions based on treatment goals and case conceptualization.
- Provide executive functioning intervention and coaching focused on:
- Organization and planning
- Time management
- Task initiation and completion
- Prioritization and goal setting
- Study skills and academic success
- Self-monitoring and accountability
- Emotional regulation and self-management
- Transition planning and independent living skills
- Provide direct CBT and other evidence-based interventions as clinically appropriate.
- Track progress using outcome measures and behavioral data.
- Consult and communicate with collateral sources, including schools, physicians, tutors, learning specialists, and other providers as needed.
- Participate in school meetings, educational planning discussions, and consultation activities when appropriate.
- Work collaboratively and across disciplines with the clinical and administrative team at CBC.
- Attend clinical team meetings and educational sessions such as grand rounds and didactic seminars.
Supervisory responsibilities include:
Based on determination of type and level of experience and seniority, the Clinical Psychologist will:
- Receive supervision and consultation.
- Attend CBC trainings and receive continuing education credits.
- Participate in peer consultation and specialty team meetings.
- Receive consultation and training related to executive functioning interventions, CBT, educational support, and school consultation.
- Based on interest and determination of experience and seniority, conduct training and provide consultation services to schools, agencies, businesses, and community organizations.
- Facilitate workshops and educational programs focused on executive functioning, learning strategies, parent support, and academic success.
- Based on interest, skill, and organizational needs, pursue leadership opportunities within the organization.
Professional Development Opportunities

Requirements and Qualifications
- Competency in clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment is required. This includes didactic training and formally supervised clinical experience in evaluating and treating a range of emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns.
- Competency in executive functioning intervention, coaching, or educational support services is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families.
- Experience supporting individuals with ADHD, executive functioning deficits, learning challenges, anxiety, depression, and school-related concerns.
- Competency in CBT is required. Competency involves didactic training in CBT and formally supervised clinical experience utilizing CBT with multiple clients.
- Experience collaborating with schools and educational systems is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of educational accommodations, 504 Plans, and IEPs is preferred.
- NY State License is current and in good standing.
- Strong clinical skills and team orientation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships with staff, families, schools, and other professionals.

Education
- Ph.D. in Psychology or Psy.D.
- NY State License in good standing.
- Specialized training or experience in executive functioning intervention, ADHD treatment, educational support, school consultation, or coaching is preferred.
Working Conditions (Include Physical Demands)
Typical Working Conditions
Regular interaction with clients, families, school personnel, and staff in direct service and consultation settings. Exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and other conditions common in outpatient clinical settings may occur.
Position requires prolonged sitting, computer use, documentation, and communication with clients and professionals.
Physical Demands
With or without reasonable accommodation, must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance, and sensory ability to perform the duties of this position.
The physical and mental requirements of this job may include seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly. Occasional reaching, bending, kneeling, crouching, and lifting may be required. Frequent sitting, standing, and walking may be required for extended periods.
Additional physical requirements may include lifting and/or moving materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Communication
Requires reviewing clinical records, reports, and treatment information to develop recommendations and interventions. Requires communicating clinical information and treatment plans to clients, families, schools, and other professionals.
Complexity
Requires integrating clinical, educational, behavioral, and developmental information to address complex emotional, behavioral, academic, and executive functioning challenges.
Independent Action
Requires independent judgment in planning, implementing, and evaluating treatment interventions while working within organizational and professional guidelines.
Travel
Occasional travel may be required for school meetings, consultations, presentations, outreach activities, and community-based services.
