Staff Accountant

Summary:
Our award-winning client is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team. In this critical role, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our financial reporting. You will handle a variety of tasks related to insurance, fixed assets, and regulatory filings, working closely with the Statutory Accounting Manager.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries for insurance activity, taxes, fees, and investment activities (based on information provided by the portfolio manager).
- Maintain and generate reports from the insurance activity database.
- Perform reconciliations between the general ledger and sub-ledgers for premiums receivable, investments, and fixed assets.
- Manage fixed asset additions, disposals, depreciation calculations, and reconciliations.
- Maintain state tax filing records.
- Assist with the preparation of annual audited financial statements and quarterly/annual regulatory filings.
- Participate in ad-hoc accounting projects as needed.
- 1-5 years of work experience in accounting or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access).
- Experience with modern accounting software is a plus.
- Must have experience with insurance accounting.
