The Law Offices of Bob Nehoray is seeking an experienced contract bookkeeper to support our growing California law firm. This is a in office, part-time contract position with the potential for an ongoing relationship. NOT REMOTE The ideal candidate has direct bookkeeping experience within a law firm and understands the importance of accuracy, confidentiality, proper documentation, and timely financial reporting. Responsibilities
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Reconcile bank, credit card, operating, and client trust accounts
- Maintain accurate general ledger records
- Track case-related costs, client advances, reimbursements, and vendor payments
- Assist with settlement and disbursement reconciliation
- Prepare monthly financial reports, including profit and loss and balance sheet statements
- Support payroll reconciliation and contractor payment tracking
- Organize financial records for tax preparation and audits
- Identify discrepancies and recommend improvements to bookkeeping procedures
- Coordinate with firm leadership, payroll providers, accountants, and other vendors as needed
- Previous bookkeeping experience with a law firm
- Strong knowledge of QuickBooks Online
- Experience with law-firm trust accounting and IOLTA reconciliation
- Understanding of three-way trust-account reconciliation
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Independent contractor
- Part-time with a flexible schedule
- Must be available during agreed-upon business hours
- Compensation based on experience
