Coordinator of Fitness & Wellness

Position Summary Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Coordinator of Fitness and Wellness to support the Department of Campus Recreation in Boca Raton, FL. Key Responsibilities Fitness Programming Oversee administration and oversight of all fitness and wellness programs (personal training, group fitness, small group training, instructional programs, special events). Manage administrative duties related to personal training, fitness consultations, specialty courses, group exercise, small group training and other program offerings. Plan and implement specialized fitness offerings, including outreach events, incentive programs, educational tabling and collaborative events. Develop and publish group fitness class schedules and format descriptions, including modified schedules for holidays, finals and intersessions. Track and analyze group fitness class counts, completed personal training sessions, mentor/mentee hours, program goals/data, and assign personal training clients. Teach training courses to prepare students to become personal trainers and/or group fitness instructors, including specialty formats (cycling, boxing, barre/Pilates, yoga, Zumba). Staff Development and Supervision Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate approximately 2 fitness managers, 15 certified personal trainers and 30 certified group fitness instructors. Maintain accurate staff contact lists and coordinate group fitness substitutions. Organize and lead staff trainings; maintain regular communication regarding updates, events, scheduling. Evaluate employee performance on a semester basis, provide written and verbal feedback. Provide ongoing mentorship through check‑ins and one‑on‑one meetings. Facility Operations & Risk Management Track equipment inventory and project replacement needs annually. Support custodial and equipment maintenance through work order requests. Ensure staff awareness of safety and risk‑management procedures and review annually. Assessment Assist in developing, implementing, and reviewing surveys for programs and events. Assist with departmental strategic plan and annual assessment materials. Assist in preparing monthly and annual reports on key performance indicators. Miscellaneous Assist with preparation of the department’s budget through staff and expense projections. Assist with marketing efforts for fitness programming. Attend meetings with campus recreation stakeholders and maintain relationships with academic departments. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization plus two years of related experience. Compensation & Details Salary: $44,000 annually. Location: Boca Raton, FL. Work Days & Hours: Monday‑Friday, 8a.m. – 5p.m. (some nights and weekends as needed).
