Make a meaningful impact in students’ lives by stepping into a Special Education teaching role for the 2026-27 school year. Multiple specialized contract opportunities are available in vibrant elementary and K-8 schools just outside Burnsville, MN, with positions in Developmental Cognitive Disabilities, Emotional/Behavioral Disorders, Autism, Specific Learning Disabilities, and more. With both in-person and some hybrid options possible, you’ll have the chance to leverage your expertise alongside supportive teams, all while fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment.
Requirements:
- Valid and active Minnesota teaching license in Special Education
- Prior experience in Special Education classrooms strongly preferred
- Ability to work full-time (37.5 hours/week) for the 2026-27 academic year (August 24, 2026 – June 11, 2027)
- Adaptable teaching style to meet diverse student needs
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Professional references and positive employment history in prior school settings (applicants with previous experience in the district will be reviewed for eligibility)
- Willingness to collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff
Role Highlights:
- Deliver specially designed instruction in one of ten available positions, including settings for Autism, Emotional/Behavioral Disorders, Developmental Cognitive Disabilities, and Specific Learning Disabilities
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction in alignment with students’ IEPs
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate and implement appropriate strategies for student success
- Monitor, assess, and document student progress regularly
- Engage with families and caregivers to foster strong home-school connections
- Participate in professional development and collaborative meetings
