Job Overview and QualificationsIn the role of RN Trauma Injury Prevention Coordinator, you will be responsible for implementing injury-prevention strategies within the Trauma Program throughout the entire care continuum. This involves transforming data, assessing community needs, and utilizing evidence-based practices to create programs that promote safety and well-being. You will forge significant partnerships with EMS, public health entities, educational institutions, hospitals, and community organizations to advance prevention initiatives that align with our commitment to enhancing lives in diverse ways. Your leadership in outreach, education, research, and program development will not only support Trauma Center verification standards but also broaden access to injury-prevention knowledge across the region.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating and implementing targeted injury-prevention initiatives informed by Trauma Registry data, community assessments, and performance improvement metrics.
- Establishing and maintaining collaborations with EMS agencies, public health officials, regional trauma coordinators, and community organizations to promote injury-prevention efforts.
- Leading and assessing educational outreach for nurses, EMS personnel, referral facilities, and high-risk groups, ensuring compliance with ACS standards and Trauma Center verification criteria.
- Applying and interpreting trauma research, data trends, and national guidelines into actionable prevention strategies, mental health screening programs, and evidence-based interventions.
- Coordinating and communicating prevention priorities among internal and external stakeholders—including surgeons, trauma leaders, committee members, marketing, and public affairs—to enhance awareness and community involvement.
- Tracking and documenting adherence to ACS, state, and local trauma-designation standards while evaluating the impact and effectiveness of injury-prevention programs.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
- Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course completion
- Trauma Nursing Core Course completion
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
