Make a Difference.Are you an experienced Cook, Food Service Worker, Food Preparation Specialist, or Kitchen Professional looking for a consistent weekend schedule?Methodist Home for Children (MHC) is hiring a Part-Time Cook to join our team at our Juvenile Crisis and Assessment Center in Asheville, NC. In this role, you'll prepare nutritious, well-balanced meals for youth ages 10–17 and staff while helping create a safe, stable, and supportive environment for young people during a challenging time in their lives.This is more than food service. The meals you prepare are part of creating a sense of routine, comfort, and care for youth who need it most.ScheduleSaturday & Sunday | 7:00 AM – 3:00 PMIf you're looking for a part-time cooking job, weekend food service position, or predictable Saturday-Sunday schedule, we'd love to hear from you.What You'll DoPrepare and serve nutritious, appealing meals for youth and staffPerform large-volume food preparation and cooking in an institutional or residential settingPlan menus that meet USDA and NC Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) requirementsAccommodate individual dietary needs and incorporate cultural diversity into menu planningMaintain high standards for food safety, kitchen sanitation, cleanliness, and organizationMonitor food inventory and order, receive, store, and track food and kitchen suppliesFollow established recipes, portion guidelines, food-handling procedures, and health and safety standardsMaintain accurate records related to meal preparation, inventory, and food serviceHelp ensure the kitchen operates efficiently and meals are prepared and served on scheduleWork collaboratively with residential and program staff to support the needs of the youth we serveWhat We're Looking For21 years of age or olderHigh school diploma or GED equivalentAt least 1 year of experience in cooking or food preparationExperience preparing meals for large groups, institutions, schools, residential programs, healthcare settings, or similar environments is preferredKnowledge of food safety, sanitation, safe food handling, and kitchen cleanlinessAbility to follow recipes, menus, dietary requirements, and established food-service proceduresStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to work independently while also being a dependable member of a teamValid driver's license and satisfactory driving recordWillingness to complete required training, including CPR and First AidWhy Work with Methodist Home for Children?At MHC, every role contributes to our mission of helping children and families find safety, stability, and hope.As a Cook, you won't simply prepare meals.
