Key Qualifications:

Valid Connecticut Special Education (SPED) teaching license is required
Previous experience working with PreK or early childhood students preferred
Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs), progress tracking, and adapting lessons to meet unique student needs
Strong communication and collaboration skills to coordinate with teachers, families, and support staff
Commitment to fostering an inclusive, nurturing classroom environment

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide direct instruction and specialized support to PreK students as a long-term substitute
Develop and implement tailored lesson plans aligned with students’ IEP goals
Collaborate closely with general education teachers and related service providers
Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with families
Participate in team meetings, parent conferences, and ongoing professional development
Ensure compliance with all district and state requirements specific to special education
