Accounting Lead

• Take ownership of the daily accounting tasks and overall accounting function
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate, timely monthly reconciliations of balance sheet and income statements
• Prepare and process supplier payments.
• Post bank transactions and reconcile the banks in multiple currencies (including crypto) and multiple entities
• Manage inter-company accounting and perform inter-company reconciliations.
• Assist with the preparation of consolidated monthly management accounts.
• Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns in a timely manner
• Review and prepare compliance reporting, including Corporation Tax submissions.
• Maintain the fixed asset register, including calculation and posting of depreciation.
• Work closely with the wider finance team and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency
• Provide additional analysis and financial support to the Finance Director, including standard and ad hoc reporting.
• Support external audits by preparing audit schedules, responding to requests, and resolving identified issues.
• Collaborate with the external Business Central Support Team to enhance system efficiency and develop meaningful business reports.
• Oversee the posting of supplier invoices and perform bank and supplier statement reconciliations.
• Supervise and mentor the Finance Assistant, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and in line with company policies and procedures.
• Drive continuous improvement across accounting processes and workflows.

Requirements Proven experience in a senior accounting role in a complex business environment Fully qualified accountant (ACCA / ACA / CPA or equivalent) or in final stages of qualification Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards Experience managing month‑end close processes independently Experience with VAT submissions and tax reporting (primarily in Malta) Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Business Central (accounting software) is a must Ability to work independently and take ownership of the accounting function Ability to work effectively within a wider finance function and cross‑functional teams Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Fluency in English – both written and spoken Previous experience supervising or mentoring junior team members is an advantage #J-18808-Ljbffr Jobtailor
